Who actually needs 15 kW in Lahore
A 1-kanal house in DHA, Bahria Sector C, Cantonment, or Lake City typically has three or four split ACs (often two 1.5-ton and one or two 2-ton), two fridges, a deep freezer, washing machine, dishwasher in some cases, water motor pump, multiple TVs, computers, and a domestic staff quarter at the back. Summer LESCO bills on such homes run from PKR 75,000 to PKR 130,000. Winter bills are still PKR 25,000 to PKR 45,000 because of geysers and the heating load.
This is the household where 15 kW is the right answer. Below 12 kW, summer daytime use overwhelms the array. Above 18 kW, the export ratio gets uneconomic under the February 2026 net billing rules. 15 kW lands in the sweet spot for self-consumption with a small export buffer.
A 15 kW system generates roughly 1,950 to 2,300 units a month across the year in Lahore conditions. That covers about 80 percent of the consumption of a 2,500 unit household. The rest is bought from the grid at slab rates (PKR 52 to 65 per unit on unprotected high slabs in 2026) or pulled from a battery.
2026 price for a 15 kW Lahore build
Panel rates in May 2026: PKR 41 to 43 per watt for Tier-1 N-type bifacial. A 15 kW system needs about 17 to 18 kW of DC panels (around 30 panels at 580W or 32 panels at 550W). The over-sizing is intentional: it pushes the inverter to full output more hours of the year, and partially compensates for Lahore's dusty May and June air.
| Item | Specification | Price (PKR) |
|---|---|---|
| Solar panels | 30 x 580W Jinko N-Type or Longi Hi-Mo X10 (17,400W total) | 715,000 to 750,000 |
| Hybrid inverter | 15 kW three-phase Solis / Sungrow / Growatt / Inverex | 485,000 to 620,000 |
| Mounting structure | IPN-100 galvanised, possibly with canopy extension | 175,000 to 220,000 |
| DC cabling | 6 mm² double-insulated, 3 to 4 strings, MC4 | 65,000 to 80,000 |
| AC cabling and switchgear | 16 mm² copper, three-phase ATS, breakers | 72,000 to 92,000 |
| DC and AC protection | Type-II SPD, DC isolator, distribution boards | 38,000 to 48,000 |
| Earthing | Copper earth pit, multiple electrodes | 22,000 to 32,000 |
| Installation labour | 5 to 7 days, three engineers and helpers | 85,000 to 110,000 |
| Net metering paperwork | LESCO application, three-phase, 15 kW load | 40,000 to 55,000 |
Totalled: a 15 kW on-grid system in Lahore lands between PKR 1,720,000 and PKR 2,020,000 fully installed in May 2026. With a 10 kWh lithium battery: PKR 2,250,000 to PKR 2,580,000. With a 20 kWh battery setup for overnight AC: PKR 2,720,000 to PKR 3,150,000.
Inverter picks at 15 kW
At this size, the inverter is almost always three-phase. The honest pool of options on the Lahore market in May 2026:
- Sungrow SG15RT three-phase: PKR 485,000 to 540,000. Excellent on-grid performance, app, monitoring. Pure on-grid (no battery support without retrofit).
- Solis 15K-5G three-phase hybrid: PKR 540,000 to 590,000. Battery-ready, good app.
- Growatt MAX 15KTL3-X / SPH 15K: PKR 520,000 to 580,000. Reliable, widely available service.
- Inverex Aerox-II 15 kVA three-phase: PKR 580,000 to 620,000. Best after-sales in Lahore.
- Deye Hybrid 15K: PKR 560,000 to 600,000. Strong battery flexibility, growing fast in Pakistan.
- Huawei SUN2000 15KTL-M3: PKR 720,000 plus. Top tier but premium price.
For a household that mostly wants on-grid savings with a small battery later, the Solis 15K or Deye 15K are the most balanced picks. For pure on-grid without battery plans, Sungrow gives the best monitoring at the lowest price.

A 1-kanal house with three or four ACs running at night in May, June, and July of Lahore pulls a serious load. Two 1.5-ton inverter ACs plus one 2-ton, running for 8 hours overnight, draws roughly 18 to 22 kWh just for cooling. Add the fridges, freezer, fans, lights, and the night load is 25 to 32 kWh.
Sizing realistic options:
- 10 kWh lithium (2 x Pylontech US3000C or equivalent): PKR 520,000 to 580,000. Covers fans, lights, fridges, and one inverter AC for about 4 hours. Honest budget level.
- 20 kWh lithium (4 modules or one BYD/Dyness rack): PKR 980,000 to PKR 1,150,000. Covers most of the night load including two ACs running on inverter mode at 50 percent.
- 30 kWh lithium for full overnight independence: PKR 1,420,000 to PKR 1,680,000. The whole house runs without LESCO from sunset to sunrise.
The economics of the 20 kWh battery in 2026 are strong because every kWh stored and self-consumed at home replaces a PKR 52 to 65 unit from the grid, whereas every exported unit only fetches PKR 11 under net billing. The payback on the 20 kWh battery for a heavy summer user is around 4 to 5 years.
What changes with three-phase at this size
Almost every 1-kanal house in DHA, Bahria, or Lake City has a three-phase LESCO meter because the sanctioned load is above 15 kW. The inverter must match. Putting a single-phase 15 kW inverter on a three-phase meter loads one phase only, which LESCO measures separately. The bill ends up higher than expected because export on one phase does not net against import on the other two.
Three-phase inverters at 15 kW are now within PKR 30,000 to 50,000 of single-phase equivalents (when single-phase 15 kW is even available, which is rare in 2026). There is no real cost-driven reason to go single-phase at this scale.
One operational note: a three-phase hybrid inverter must be configured by an engineer who knows what backup-output phases look like. The default factory configuration usually backs up only one phase. If the homeowner wants whole-house UPS-style backup on three-phase, the wiring and inverter setup needs explicit planning. Many installers skip this step and the homeowner later finds that only the lounge wing has lights during a LESCO outage.
A real DHA Phase 5 example
A 1-kanal house in DHA Phase 5, three-phase meter, four split ACs (two 1.5-ton on the ground floor used most evenings, two 2-ton upstairs in bedrooms used overnight in summer), family of seven including elderly parents. Last summer's June bill was PKR 124,000. February 2026 bill was PKR 38,000.
The installed system was 15 kW with a Solis 15K hybrid three-phase, 17.4 kW of Jinko N-Type panels, and a 20 kWh BYD lithium battery (configured for night AC). Total cost was PKR 2,520,000 including LESCO three-phase net metering and a canopy structure to fit the panels around two water tanks.
April 2026 bill came in at PKR 9,400, against PKR 47,000 in April 2025. June projection (without solar) would have been around PKR 140,000. With solar plus battery, the engineer expects PKR 14,000 to PKR 22,000. Payback on this build is tracking at 38 to 42 months because of the battery cost. Without the battery, payback would be around 30 months, but the family wanted overnight AC independence and was willing to pay for it.
Over the 25-year panel life, the system saves roughly PKR 16 to 18 million in today's electricity money, even with LESCO rates assumed flat. With realistic tariff increases of 4 to 6 percent a year, the saving is closer to PKR 28 million.
