Why Canadian Solar still has a following in Lahore
Canadian Solar has been one of the steadier brands in the Pakistani market since 2018. The company itself is headquartered in Ontario but the panels sold in Lahore are manufactured in China and Vietnam under the same Tier-1 process used for Western utility-scale projects. In the local market the brand has a reputation for fewer warranty disputes than some of the cheaper Chinese names, which is why a lot of long-time installers keep a HiKu line in their default BoQ.
That reputation comes at a small premium. Today, in May 2026, Canadian Solar panels in Lahore typically sit PKR 0.50 to PKR 1.50 per watt above the equivalent Jinko or Longi panel. On a 5 kW system that adds around PKR 12,000 to PKR 18,000 to the bill. Most buyers who pick Canadian over the cheaper alternatives say the after-sale handling is the reason.
Canadian Solar prices in Lahore — May 2026 table
| Model | Wattage | Cell tech | PKR / panel | PKR / watt |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HiKu | 450W | P-type PERC | 14,400 – 15,600 | 32 – 35 |
| HiKu6 | 540W | P-type PERC | 19,400 – 20,800 | 36 – 39 |
| HiKu6 | 580W | P-type PERC | 23,000 – 24,500 | 40 – 42 |
| HiKu7 | 600W | N-type TOPCon | 24,600 – 25,800 | 41 – 43 |
| HiKu7 | 605W | N-type TOPCon | 24,800 – 26,200 | 41 – 43 |
| BiHiKu (bifacial) | 590W | P-type bifacial | 25,200 – 26,800 | 43 – 45 |
| BiHiKu7 (bifacial N-type) | 610W | N-type bifacial | 27,000 – 28,400 | 44 – 47 |
These figures are for sealed-pack, verifiable-import Canadian Solar product in Lahore retail with a tax-paid invoice. Pallet rates for installers run PKR 1.5 to PKR 2.5 per watt below the lower bound. Anything quoted under PKR 35 per watt on a new HiKu6 580W should be treated with suspicion.
HiKu6 versus HiKu7 — which fits a Lahore rooftop
The HiKu6 is still the workhorse for residential jobs in Lahore through May 2026. It uses P-type PERC cells, has a 25-year linear power warranty, and is widely stocked across Hall Road, Brandreth Road, and the LDA-area distributors. For a 7-marla home, a 10-panel HiKu6 580W string is one of the most common configurations a Lahore installer will quote.
The HiKu7 is the N-type TOPCon successor and it is the better panel on paper. It runs about 22.5 percent efficient at the module level versus 21.5 percent for HiKu6, has a 0.30 percent annual degradation rate (versus 0.55 percent for HiKu6), and handles Lahore's 45-plus degree summer rooftop temperatures with a smaller power drop. The price premium is PKR 1 to PKR 1.5 per watt, which on a 5 kW system is about PKR 25,000 extra. For most homeowners staying in the same house for 8 years or more, the HiKu7 pays back the premium in higher generation by year 5 or 6.
The HiKu6 is the better pick when budget is tight or when the rooftop has constraints that make the small efficiency edge of the HiKu7 hard to capture, such as heavy seasonal shading from a neighbour's water tank.

Bifacial panels collect light on the back side as well as the front, picking up the reflected radiation from the roof surface below them. On a white-painted concrete roof in DHA or Bahria Town the bifacial gain can be 6 to 12 percent over a 12-month period. On a grey-painted or dusty roof it falls to 3 to 5 percent.
The BiHiKu and BiHiKu7 carry a price premium of PKR 3 to PKR 5 per watt over the standard HiKu6. On a 5 kW system that is roughly PKR 60,000 to PKR 100,000 extra. The bifacial gain only kicks in when the mounting structure raises the panel at least 20 inches off the roof surface and the surface below is bright. Most Lahore rooftop installations do not meet both of those conditions, which is why bifacial sells well into ground-mount commercial projects and almost never into residential homes.
Where to buy Canadian Solar in Lahore
Two paths exist. The first is through an authorised Canadian Solar distributor in Pakistan. The official distributor list changes year to year but most large EPC firms in Lahore can produce a stamped purchase order from a recognised importer. Buying through this channel adds PKR 0.50 to PKR 1.50 per watt over Hall Road wholesale but gets the buyer a verified factory warranty with a clear chain of custody.
The second path is Hall Road or Brandreth Road wholesale shops that stock Canadian Solar alongside other brands. Prices there are 5 to 10 percent lower but the buyer carries the authenticity risk. A scanned QR code on the back-sheet should return a valid serial number with a manufacture date inside the last 18 months. If the QR fails to scan, or the seller cannot produce a tax-paid import invoice, the panels are either parallel imports or in some cases re-labelled product from secondary factories.
The third option, which a few shopkeepers will quietly suggest, is to buy "Canadian Solar look-alike" panels that are made by smaller Chinese factories and screen-printed with the Canadian Solar logo on the back-sheet. These do exist in the Lahore market. The price is PKR 5 to PKR 8 per watt below genuine stock. They are a bad deal. The panels often pass initial inspection, generate output that is 8 to 14 percent below the rated wattage, and there is no warranty path when something goes wrong in year 4 or year 7.
What a real Canadian Solar BoQ looks like for a 5 kW home
For a 5 kW system in Johar Town or Wapda Town, a typical Canadian Solar BoQ looks like this in May 2026.
Nine HiKu6 580W panels at PKR 23,800 each works out to PKR 214,200 on the panel line. Add a quality hybrid inverter at PKR 280,000 to PKR 360,000, mounting structure at PKR 70,000, cables and protections at PKR 50,000, installation labour at PKR 40,000, and net-metering processing at PKR 35,000 to PKR 55,000. The full turnkey price lands between PKR 690,000 and PKR 825,000 depending on inverter choice and whether a battery is included.
Swap the HiKu6 for HiKu7 600W and the panel count drops to eight panels, the panel line rises to about PKR 198,000, and the rest of the system saves about PKR 18,000 on rails, clamps and cabling. Net effect: roughly the same price for a higher-efficiency, lower-degradation panel.
Warranty path in Pakistan
Canadian Solar's standard warranty is 25 years linear power output and 15 years product warranty. The product warranty is the one buyers care about for the first decade. To file a claim in Pakistan, the panel serial number, original invoice, and installation photos go to the authorised distributor, who then escalates to the Canadian Solar Asia office.
The realistic timeline for a confirmed warranty replacement is 8 to 14 weeks. That gap is the reason most reputable installers keep two or three spare panels on standby for clients on full-service contracts. If a buyer is sourcing through a Hall Road shop with no distributor chain, the warranty path is effectively closed beyond year 2, which is why the per-watt savings can vanish on a single failed panel.
