Where solar quotes lie
Most cheap solar quotes in Lahore quote just the panel and inverter. That number looks low and gets the customer talking. The real cost has six more line items the customer sometimes does not see until the invoice arrives. Mounting structure. DC and AC cabling. Protection devices (DC SPD, AC SPD, isolators, breakers, earthing). Net metering paperwork. Labour and commissioning. And in many homes, structure strengthening, generator integration, or shade mitigation.
The headline panel-and-inverter cost on a 10 kW system in 2026 is around PKR 1,150,000. The honest delivered cost is PKR 1,400,000 to PKR 1,650,000 for on-grid, and PKR 1,750,000 to PKR 1,950,000 for hybrid with 5 kWh lithium. The other PKR 250,000 to PKR 800,000 is not optional, it is what makes the system work.

The net metering paperwork line in the BoQs above is the labour and document fee for filing the application. There is also a LESCO-side cost. The bi-directional meter is supplied and installed by LESCO and is included in the LESCO security deposit, which has been around PKR 25,000 to PKR 40,000 depending on the connection size in 2026. Some installers cover this in the BoQ, some bill it separately. Ask the question before signing.
NEPRA-approved inverter is a hard requirement for net metering. The 2026 list includes Sungrow, Solis, Deye, Goodwe, Solax, Huawei, INVT, and a handful of others. Any inverter not on the NEPRA list will fail the AGM inspection, the application will be rejected, and the homeowner has to replace the inverter before reapplying. The replacement cost is PKR 220,000 to PKR 540,000 depending on size. The cheap unbranded inverters some sellers push are a trap because of this.
Year-one maintenance — the cost most quotes leave out
Solar systems need maintenance and the cost is not zero. Year one typically includes 4 to 6 panel cleanings, a year-end inverter check-up, and any small fixes for things that show up after the first dust storm or monsoon. For a 10 kW Lahore system, year-one maintenance runs around PKR 30,000 to PKR 55,000 if paid per visit, or PKR 45,000 to PKR 70,000 if bundled into an annual contract. After year one, maintenance settles to PKR 35,000 to PKR 65,000 per year.

For a 10 kW hybrid with 5 kWh lithium installed at PKR 1,819,000, the year-1 to year-10 cost looks like this: install PKR 1,819,000 + maintenance PKR 450,000 (10 years at PKR 45,000 average) + one inverter board service around year 6 to 8 at PKR 50,000 = PKR 2,319,000 total over 10 years.
Annual savings against the LESCO bill at 2026 rates and projected 7 percent annual tariff increase: year 1 saves PKR 480,000, year 5 saves PKR 630,000, year 10 saves PKR 880,000. Cumulative 10-year savings come to roughly PKR 6,300,000. Net financial outcome over 10 years: positive PKR 3,980,000 against the system cost.
Where the cost can creep up
Three things can push the delivered cost above the BoQ baseline. First, structure strengthening on older roofs (PKR 35,000 to PKR 140,000). Second, shade mitigation with optimisers (PKR 10,000 to PKR 14,000 per optimised panel). Third, generator integration on homes with diesel backup (PKR 15,000 to PKR 35,000). A proper survey catches all three before the quote is finalised. Quotes that say "everything included" without seeing the home are usually missing one of these.
Financing — bank instalments in 2026
Several banks in Pakistan run solar financing schemes in 2026 with markup rates between 8 and 14 percent annually. The State Bank refinance facility for renewable energy is offered through participating commercial banks and pushes the consumer markup down to around 8 to 9 percent. Tenure is usually 5 to 8 years. For a 10 kW PKR 1,819,000 system at 9 percent over 5 years, the monthly instalment is roughly PKR 37,800. Most families find that the LESCO bill saving covers the EMI from month one.

These are real 2026 numbers from May. Brand choices change the price by 10 to 18 percent in either direction. A premium brand like Huawei or Sungrow hybrid pushes the upper end. A mid-tier like Solis or Goodwe sits in the middle. The really cheap unbranded options that come up on social media at 30 percent below these prices are not NEPRA-listed and cannot get net metering.
